Christmas Boxes at Droitwich Library’s Local History Day!

This Saturday, 24th October, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., is Local History Day at Droitwich Library with an exciting WWI Home Front display of photographs, documents and artefacts to see, and an opportunity to discover more about local casualties of WWI with the help of Sandra Taylor and the excellent “Remember the Fallen” website.

There will also be a wide range of fascinating work to explore, researched and produced by the pupils and staff of our “Great Blackberry Pick” partner schools, Hindlip, Ombersley, Tibberton and Wychbold.

There is also a final opportunity to enter our jam and jam label competitions to be judged by the WI at 3 p.m., and the chance to get involved in contributing a Christmas Box for British service personnel serving overseas during the festive period.  We have a number of shoe boxes which you can help us fill or take away to fill for the “Support our Soldiers” charity with your friends and family.  We also have a genuine WWI Princess Mary Christmas Box with contents dating from 1914 for you to compare to the modern-day UK4U version.
